“Alive in Christ has allowed me to know that I am not alone.”

Hello, friends of Alive in Christ!

Psalm 107:2a says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.” At the end of 2021, I asked those who attend one of our four support groups to share a short testimony of how God has used Alive in Christ and its leadership to impact their lives. Here are a few of their stories.

“Alive in Christ has allowed me to know that I am not alone. There are others with this struggle who choose to live a Christ-centered life as well.”

“Before Alive in Christ, I thought I could never find people to share my life, tears, and joys. The small groups have been so life-giving, leaders with wisdom and kind hearts, I am forever grateful.”

Alive in Christ is a discipleship and mentoring ministry. We believe that as we grow in our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as we walk shoulder to shoulder with those wrestling with the same struggles, and as we are mentored by those who are a little further down the road, we will progressively walk into the freedom that Jesus died to give.

“Alive in Christ is a place where I can both receive and give. It provides a setting where I can be real, open, transparent; get support when needed; and share from what God has done in my life.”

“I have been incredibly grateful for the Alive in Christ women’s group this past year. Getting to have that connection with people who understand my struggle has been a huge blessing!”

As a discipleship and mentoring ministry, we offer advice on how to navigate family relationships impacted by same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria.

We answer questions about how choosing to walk in obedience to Jesus in the area of sexuality and gender will impact our lives long-term.

We share practical tools for handling temptation.

But one of our primary aims is to live out Galatians 6:2: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” A main benefit of our support groups is having someone who understands, thus knowing you are not alone in your struggles and questions.

“I am so grateful for the Alive in Christ ministry. It has been a godsend for me. The sense of community and support I have received has helped me to know I am not alone in my journey.”

We are able to serve these people, to speak life into some of their darkest times because of you! Words cannot express how grateful we are for your prayers and financial support.

“Brenna and Patrick’s personal sacrifice to minister to us during our darkest days was instrumental to us. We will never forget their willingness to help in our time of need.” (Patrick leads our weekly support group for those experiencing same-sex attraction with the help of myself and two other leaders.)

Let me close with the words of a pastor at whose church I recently shared.

“Brenna demonstrates an astute awareness of our post-Christian culture and an uncompromising foundation in the Word of God. Her personal story of finding true freedom and wholeness in Jesus Christ and her deep compassion for those with same-sex attraction awakened in me and our church a new desire to lovingly minister to the LGBTQ+ community.

Brenna’s depth of experience and her insightful, respectful suggestions for demonstrating the love of Jesus to the LGBTQ+ community has earned my wholehearted endorsement to any church or ministry that desires to be equipped to effectively minister to the LGBTQ+ community in love and truth.”
