Sharing the Love of Christ throughout New England and a Vehicle Update, Our 100th Newsletter

A Ministry Offering Hope to Those

Impacted by Same-Sex Attraction & Gender Dysphoria

In New England and Beyond

Vol. 100, September/October 2026

Hello, friends of Alive in Christ!

September and October have been busy months for us. In the midst of a nor’easter, we presented our seminar, “Same-Sex Attraction & the Church: Compassion without Compromise” at Crossroads Worship Center. Attendance was strong, and the response was good, despite the challenging weather. At this particular seminar, we share on a variety of topics, including the LGBT-identified person’s experience of faith, how open they are to attending church, how to effectively share the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who identify as LGBTQ+, how to respond if someone comes out to you as gay or transgender, how we can equip youth with a biblical framework for these issues, and so much more. I (Brenna) was joined by our assistant director Patrick (on my left), as well as ministry leaders Bryan (pictured below) and Kyle. At these seminars, the team answers questions as a panel to share various perspectives. Attendees asked thought-provoking questions such as:

Where is the line between showing compassion and unintentionally affirming something the church believes is sinful?

Can someone who is attracted to the same sex and does not feel this is wrong still volunteer at church?

My uncle and his husband attend a Catholic church every Sunday. How can I point them to Jesus, and does it mean they have to get divorced?

We are booking training seminars for 2027. Contact us to host one!

In recent months, we’ve been to Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine and our home state of Massachusetts. At one point, we drove my 20-year-old car to just a few miles from Canada! Everywhere we go, people are thirsty to hear more about what God is doing in the lives of those impacted by same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria. At a recent mission’s breakfast, a member of the church’s prayer team told me that almost every week, a parent comes up for prayer concerning their LGBTQ-identified child. They wanted to know if we would come and do some training, as they need advice, counsel, and prayer (we love to pray with people!). Also, more and more, I have women approach me who have never told anyone about their struggles. They often have never met anyone who has walked away from a gay identity, and they are desperate to receive the hope Jesus Christ has to offer them in their own identity issues.

I shared at some youth groups lately. I recognize that my past choices and experiences have a level of shock value, and sharing certain things gives me pause, especially with youth. I felt led to take a risk one night and share about being taken advantage of sexually as an adult. I did this because we live in a world where almost 1 in 2 women and more than 1 in 6 men have had similar experiences.[1] A young woman came up to speak with me after and asked challenging questions on how to heal from such experiences in order to be able to trust men again (something I wrestled with as well).

The bottom line? After almost every speaking engagement, someone reaches out to Alive in Christ for help and support.

These are just a few examples of why our vehicle fundraiser is so important. Since our last newsletter update, God has provided an additional $10,946! The image may state a goal of $25,000, but we are honestly hoping to reach $30,000. We have a vehicle in mind (a small SUV), and the cost of a gently used vehicle plus registration fees, beginning insurance, etc. will easily reach $30,000. This is a stretch goal for us, but we know God is able.

Would you consider partnering with what God is doing in and through Alive in Christ by giving toward this need?

“For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” Ephesians 1:15-16

This is our 100th newsletter. Our first official Alive in Christ newsletter was published in 2003, initially just writing them sporadically. We had less than 10 people on the mailing list. We eventually moved to every 3 months, and beginning in 2016, every 2 months. One hundred newsletters represent thousands of people who heard the hope Jesus offers the LGBTQ-identified, hundreds of lives impacted through support groups, discipleship and mentoring, and decades of faithfulness serving those impacted by same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria. We will have a special celebratory newsletter for you next time! Till then, thank you for your prayers, thank you for your giving, and thank you for sharing the good news that Jesus is still in the business of changing lives!
