I (Brenna Kate Simonds) am excited to be participating in the Christian Family Resource Conference in Shrewsbury, MA, April 26 & 27! The Christian Family Resource Conference exists to encourage, equip, and inspire Christian families through instruction and insight from a biblical worldview.

We are very grateful we had the opportunity to share our training “Same-Sex Attraction & the Church: Compassion without Compromise” at a Holbrook church recently.

I was recently officially commissioned as a career missionary with my denomination! After 21 years of missionary work and almost 20 years as the director of Alive in Christ, I decided to make it official. Thanks for all your prayers and financial support in getting us to this accomplishment!
One of the most special parts of the commissioning service in Missouri was those who celebrated with me. In addition to some local friends who made the event special, my friend Melissa drove 7 ½ hours to attend! When I began to follow Jesus in January of 1999 while a student at New England Conservatory of Music, Melissa was a leader in the campus ministry. After I attended their weekly gathering for the 1st time, she invited me to lunch to get to know me and hear more about the Bible study she led. I had experienced a lot of rejection from Christians, so I decided the best idea was to give her an overview of all my struggles, including but not limited to same-sex attraction. Not an approach I’d currently recommend! At the end of that lunch, she said with a smile, “Bible Study is on Tuesdays from 5-7 PM,” as if she was completely unfazed by my confession. She became an amazing support to me as I began to learn to walk in freedom from same-sex attraction, among other things.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 reminds us, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” We all need someone like Melissa in our lives! Whose life can you pour into today?
